The Bailey Library has installed a display of open education resource (OER) textbooks in various subject areas.
Authored by college instructors, published by Rice University/OpenStax College, and licensed through the Creative Commons, these open-education-resource (OER) textbooks are free in electronic format for educational use. The print format is usually priced at a fraction of the cost of commercially published textbooks.
Higher education institutions nationwide have begun to adopt these open education resources for their students, resulting in tremendous textbook savings, such as University of Maryland, University of Georgia, Northern Virginia Community College, and Tacoma Community College, among others.
You can find these OER textbooks in the library’s display cases.
