What We Offer

The Faculty Professional Development Committee offers special sessions just for part-time and adjunct faculty, under the Part-Time & Adjunct Faculty Institute. The goal of the institute is to support a learning community for part-time and adjunct faculty at WCC and provide opportunities for quality professional development. Look for the following offerings:

  • Monthly Lunch & Learns, Fridays from 12-1pm (Fall & Winter semesters)
  • Part-Time & Adjunct Faculty Conference (Saturday in mid-March)
  • Inservice Kick-Off Events (August & January)

Stipends for Professional Development

Earn stipends for attending any of the Part-Time/Adjunct Faculty Institute events AND for any faculty professional development session listed in KALPA that counts for credit.

Finding Professional Development Sessions

  • All professional development sessions are listed in KALPA.
  • Online professional development sessions are available through Blackboard’s TLC: Teaching & Learning Center (LinkedIn Learning) site, under Faculty Professional Development.
  • “TLC Offerings” emails, sent from The Teaching and Learning Center every Monday morning, list that week’s professional development offerings.
  • FPD’s “Teaching Tuesday” emails feature select professional development offerings.

We know that faculty are experts — experts in our fields and experts in student success. We believe that when faculty work together, within and across disciplines and divisions, we generate new approaches and solve problems. When faculty are fully supported, we get things done.

During a Faculty Collaboration Lab you can work on your projects, meet with other faculty, and get support from Faculty Professional Development committee members, including Molly Ledermann from the Bailey Library.

All faculty are invited to work on a project solo or in collaboration with other faculty.

Faculty Collaboration Labs are offered once a month and during both Fall and Winter Inservices.

Open Door Days

Open-Door Days, which takes place every October, provides an opportunity for faculty to invite other faculty into their classrooms. Host-faculty open a regular session of their class to 1 or more faculty colleagues. Faculty visitors get a chance to see another teacher in action–how they promote classroom community, encourage student participation, or frame a specific topic.

Sign Up Here to host an Open Door Day in your class during the month of October!

Teaching Tuesdays

Every other Tuesday, look for a Teaching Tuesday email featuring select professional development offerings, ideas, and inspiration from the Faculty Professional Development Committee.
